The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has always strived to foster a spirit of inquiry, curiosity, and scientific thinking among students. As part of this endeavor, the CBSE is set to organize the CBSE Science Challenge for the academic year 2023-24. This challenge is designed to ignite the minds of students from classes 8th to 10th, encouraging them to explore the wonders of science and enhance their problem-solving skills.

The Structure of the CBSE Science Challenge 2023-24

The CBSE Science Challenge comprises two rounds: Round One (First Stage) and Round Two (Second Stage). The participation in both stages is completely free of charge, promoting inclusivity among CBSE-affiliated schools.

Round One (First Stage):

  • Registration: CBSE-affiliated schools were invited to register their students in classes 8 to 10 for Round One, which was scheduled from April 3, 2023, to April 14, 2023. To ensure a smooth process, schools were encouraged to register well in advance.
  • Challenge Paper: On April 17, 2023, the CBSE released a Science Challenge paper with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) on the official Science Challenge Portal. This paper not only assessed students’ knowledge but also their ability to think swiftly and accurately.
  • School-Level Challenge: Schools conducted the Challenge for registered students between April 17, 2023, and April 21, 2023. Based on their performance, each school will identify six students (two from each participating class).
  • Round Two Registration: The identified students registered for Round Two between April 24, 2023, and May 4, 2023.

Round Two (Second Stage):

  • Computer-Based Challenge: The CBSE conducted a computer-based Science Challenge for registered students between May 8, 2023, and May 12, 2023. Only schools that have completed the first stage and registered students for Round Two was eligible to participate.

Recognition and Appreciation:

All participants of Round Two received online participation certificates from the CBSE. The best-performing students will be awarded Appreciation Certificates, recognizing their exceptional achievement in the CBSE Science Challenge.
