Report on Essay Writing Competition at DWPS Rajkot

Delhi World Public School (DWPS) Rajkot organized an Essay Writing Competition on Monday, 1st July 2024, as part of CBSE’s first Expression Series for the academic year 2024-2025. The objective of the competition was to enhance writing skills among students across various grade levels by encouraging them to express their thoughts coherently and creatively on relevant topics.

Categories based on the class levels

The competition was divided into four categories based on the class levels: Primary (Class 3 to 5), Middle (Class 6 to 8), Secondary (Class 9 to 10), and Senior Secondary (Class 11 to 12). Students participated enthusiastically, writing on a range of topics that reflected their understanding and perspectives.

Class Categories:

Primary (Class 3 to 5)

Medium: Paragraph (150 words)
Topics:

1. My experience at the Mela/Haat in my village/town/city
2. I learn things when I play

Middle (Class 6 to 8)

Medium: Essay (400 words)
Topics:

1. My view on making exams stress-free
2. Lessons I learned in my class that helped me in my daily life

Secondary (Class 9 to 10)

Medium: Essay (700 words)
Topics:

1. A nation can develop only if all are educated
2. To save the environment, my suggestions are

Senior Secondary (Class 11 to 12)

Medium: Essay (1000 words)
Topics:

1. Culture as the unifying force for the modern world
2. Holistic education: What it means to me

The learning outcome of the competition was significant as it provided students with an opportunity to develop critical thinking, improve their language proficiency, and express their ideas effectively. The exercise also helped them build confidence in their writing abilities, fostering a deeper understanding of the subjects they addressed.

The event was a resounding success, contributing to the overall academic growth of the students.
