Storytelling Activity: “Eat Healthy” with Props for LKG Class at DWPS Rajkot

Delhi World Public School (DWPS) Rajkot recently organized an engaging Storytelling Activity titled “Eat Healthy” for the LKG class, using props to make learning fun and interactive for young minds.

Learning Objective: The primary objective of this activity was to instill healthy eating habits in children by introducing them to nutritious food through storytelling. By using props like fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods, the children were encouraged to understand the importance of balanced nutrition and how it helps them grow strong and healthy.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Increased Awareness: Students learned to identify various fruits and vegetables, understanding their nutritional benefits.
  • Improved Language Skills: Through storytelling, the children developed their vocabulary and sentence formation by describing different foods.
  • Cognitive Development: The use of props allowed the children to visually and kinesthetically connect with the story, enhancing their memory and understanding of healthy eating.
  • Social Interaction: The collaborative nature of the activity helped in fostering teamwork, communication, and listening skills among students.

Suggested Activities for Parents:

  1. Healthy Food Chart: Encourage parents to create a colorful food chart with their child, showcasing various healthy foods to incorporate into daily meals.
  2. Cook Together: Involve children in simple cooking activities, like making a fruit salad or arranging a vegetable platter, to familiarize them with healthy ingredients.
  3. Storytime at Home: Parents can read stories about healthy eating or make up their own, using toys or props to reinforce the message at home.
  4. Supermarket Adventure: Take children on a visit to the supermarket, allowing them to pick out fruits and vegetables, learning more about the food they eat.

This activity not only reinforced the importance of healthy food but also made the learning process enjoyable and memorable for the young learners.
