Delhi World Public School, Rajkot, has always been committed to nurturing not only academic excellence but also social and emotional skills in its students. In line with this commitment, a visit to Maheshwari Mataji Vriddhashram, an old age home in Rajkot, was organized. The purpose of this visit was to instill values of empathy, compassion, and social responsibility among our students while offering assistance to the elderly residents of the old age home.
Objectives:
The primary objectives of this activity were as follows:
- Inculcating Values: To instill essential values such as empathy, compassion, and social responsibility in our students by exposing them to the needs and challenges faced by the elderly residents of the old age home.
- Fulfilling Basic Needs: To provide much-needed support in the form of food items and other essential supplies, ensuring that the old age home has a continuous source of help throughout the year.
Activities Undertaken:
During our visit to Maheshwari Mataji Vriddhashram, the students of Delhi World Public School Rajkot engaged in several activities that allowed them to interact with the residents and understand their daily lives. The activities included:
- Distribution of Food Items: Students brought with them a collection of non-perishable food items, toiletries, and other essentials. These items were distributed to the elderly residents, ensuring they have a steady supply of necessities.
- Spending Quality Time: Students spent quality time talking, listening, and interacting with the elderly residents. These interactions were an opportunity for our students to understand the life experiences and challenges faced by the elderly.
- Entertainment: Our students organized small cultural performances, including songs and dances, to entertain and bring joy to the residents. These performances were met with enthusiasm and smiles from the elderly.
The visit to Maheshwari Mataji Vriddhashram had a profound impact on both our students and the elderly residents. Some key reflections and outcomes include:
